The Jed Foundation, a nonprofit focused on emotional health and suicide prevention among college students, has selected Ricochet Public Relations for a national program to raise awareness of the organization’s programs and new initiatives. Ricochet’s healthcare team will work on the account.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners has chosen GCI Health as its AOR. The firm’s New York office will work on the account, focusing on raising awareness of the organization and the group it represents as the U.S. healthcare system changes.

Amyris, an alternative energy company, has chosen Schwartz Communications and its cleantech practice as AOR. Amyris uses an “industrial synthetic biology platform” to create alternatives to petroleum fuels.

Arian Foster

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster has chosen French/West/Vaughn as his new marketing and PR AOR. F/W/V also works with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback (and dog lover) Michael Vick and retired NFL player Simeon Rice.

Turner PR has three new clients: The Four Seasons Resorts in Jackson Hole and Whistler and The Brown Palace, a hotel and spa in downtown Denver.

PRWeek reports that Reckitt Benckiser has chosen Euro RSCG Worldwide PR as the PR firm for the Durex brand, which it recently acquired from SSL International. The firm had worked with the brand previously. Ogilvy PR Worldwide had also worked with Durex pre-acquisition through Ogilvy & Mather. That will be transitioned. Porter Novelli works with Reckitt Benckiser’s Veet brand, and Lippe Taylor with Clearasil.

GolinHarris has been selected as AOR to Rotary International. The firm will help Rotary International raise awareness of its cause initiative End Polio Now, which addresses the ongoing fight against the disease abroad. GH will also conduct outreach for the nonprofit’s other philanthropic efforts. The account will be handled out of the Los Angeles office by SVP Dan Zukowski.

Cookie Jar Entertainment, makers of the Caillou line of toys launching this Spring, has selected Child’s Play Communications for PR services. The firm, which specializes in PR targeting moms, will use its Team Mom blogger network to promote the line. According to Child’s Play president Stephanie Azzarone, the Team Mom network will “not only highlight features and benefits in their reviews, but also share their child’s personal experience with the product,  while typically including photos and often video of their children interacting with it.”

Roll Call: Zócalo Group, Ketchum, Voce, and More

Hugo Pérez has joined Zócalo Group as VP and account director of Hispanic marketing. He will lead the firm’s WOM and social media efforts targeting the Hispanic marketing. Pérez is a former journalist who has worked at NBC, CBS, MSNBC, and MSNBC.com. He also has comms experience, working with organizations including Mars, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, and the Latin Grammys.

Marc Levy is joining Ketchum New York as SVP of insights and creative catalyst responsible for providing counsel to account teams as they develop client initiatives. Previously, Levy was EVP and U.S. creative director at Cohn & Wolfe. He also previously worked with Ketchum between 1995 and 2001 in the firm’s brand practice.

Christopher Barger will join Voce Communications as SVP of global programs beginning April 11. Most recently, he was director of global social media at GM. Social commerce site Kaboodle has selected The Morris + King Company as its AOR following a competitive review. Kaboodle is owned by Hearst, and provides a community of shoppers with discounts, suggested items, and other shopping info.  At left, one of the items currently on the Kaboodle site, a “bearded beanie.”

The GoNewark Sports & Entertainment Committee has hired MWW Group to promote the GoNewark HoopFest, which brings NCAA basketball to Brick City. The event takes place between March 23rd and 27th. The firm will promote the event as well as encourage ongoing tourism to the city of Newark.

In this edition of Spin the Agencies of Record, there is designer hardware, global software, and fashion for head to toe.

LFPR has been selected as the AOR for Sage North America, the U.S. and Canadian arm of the international business management software  and service supplier. The firm will handle traditional, online, and Hispanic media relations for a number of business units.

Miz Mooz, a footwear brand, has chosen Workhouse as its AOR. The firm will work on promotional campaigns tied to the company’s collections and special events, as well as other domestic PR.

Susan Magrino Agency has been named AOR for Saint Louis Crystal, a French maker of crystal vases and other products that was founded in 1586. The firm was also named AOR for Puiforcat, a French art deco silver design company. Both companies are owned by Hermès.

Alpha Industries, a fashion company specializing in military-inspired design, has selected Turner PR as its AOR. Alpha has also outfitted the U.S. Defense Department since 1959. Turner will launch the company’s national PR campaign.
