Super Bowl Gives Great PR to a New Jersey Turnpike Road Stop

Despite the fact that everyone refers to Super Bowl XLVIII as the “New York Super Bowl”, it will actually take place in the great state of New Jersey.

The NFL wants to use this fact to further hype the event with an interactive multimedia NY/NJ Super Bowl “experience” page.

Its virtual tour of pigskin-flavored tri-state landmarks stretches from Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Since this tour includes two states, there’s an additional stop in the Garden State, and it is quite literally a stop: the Vince Lombardi service area off the Jersey turnpike near Ridgefield.

Why Is the Restaurant Industry Such a Boys’ Club?

There’s a reason the restaurant business plays host to so many big egos: Everybody loves fancy food, and reality TV has only encouraged the industry to grow flashier while elevating its baddest (or lamest) dudes to larger-than-life status. One question, though: Where are all the women?

In a telling interview with the Village Voice’s Fork in the Road food blog, current James Beard Foundation president Susan Ungaro talks about why the industry feels like such a boys’ club—and what it will take to encourage young female chefs to take the reins and step into the spotlight. Aim for the Culture Section of Village Voice

Village Voice coverIf your client is the next hot thing in pop or indy culture, you could land print and online coverage in Village Voice. As the “premier expert on New York’s downtown scene,” the alt weekly looks to publicists to arrange interviews, to secure advanced copies of media material (film, books, music) and to obtain access to events (shows, openings).

But be patient when pitching, said music editor Maura Johnston. ”I do try to at least glance at every email I receive, although responding to every one would be a full-time job, or maybe even two,” she explained.
