PR firm Affect is holding its second annual contest to find its next PR and social media summer intern. That person will receive $5,000 along with a $2,500 housing stipend to live in New York City. Last year’s contest, which produced Affect employee Patrick Gotham, received more than 100 entries and 14,000 votes. Applicants submit a video or photo entry here explaining why they should be awarded a paid internship at Affect in New York City that will jump-start their career.
The deadline for entries is April 27. 2012. The first five semi-finalists will be selected by public voting on the New York Intern Project’s website and one “wild card” entry will be selected by the panel of judges. These six contenders will be interviewed via Skype and narrowed down by the judges to two prospective interns.
That’s where it gets Apprentice-like: The top-two chosen will be flown to New York City to conduct a round of in-person interviews with the judges. The winner will be announced by May 18, 2012.
Currently leading in votes is Marshall University student and New York native Ty Carlton.
The contest is judged by Vocus’ Peter Shankman, Deirdre Breakenridge, CeO of Pure Performance Communications, PRWeek’s Julia Hood along with Sandra Fathi, Affect’s founder and president, and Katie Creaser, account director at Affect.
