ABC News Crew Confronted in China

And you thought covering the House Banking Committee was ugly.

New ABC News Beijing correspondent Clarissa Ward has been logging ridiculous frequent-flyer miles across Asia the past few days, first traveling to Moscow to cover Obama’s Russia visit and now to usually-off-the-radar north-western China to cover the violence that has broken out between ethnic minority Uighurs and the majority Han Chinese. Ward specifically was trying to track down this elderly protester whose image has recently made headlines.

Yesterday, Ward was there with the ABC News crew, which included producer Beth Loyd, when they were confronted by a mob after filming the crowd of Han Chinese beating an unarmed man.

Ward became the Beijing correspondent last month after a few years in Moscow reporting for ABC News.
