ABC has hired Diane Masciale away from NBC and named her the executive editor for special coverage for Good Morning America.

Masciale "will play an instrumental part in the planning and development of sweeps series as well as overall special events for 'GMA,'" the net says.

She starts today. She will also EP programs for the long-form doc unit.
