Al Jazeera International Delayed Several Months For "Technical Reasons" The launch of Al Jazeera International has been postponed yet again. A tipster says the director of networks announced a delay until September yesterday. "After all the recent press saying May was launch date it's a huge setback," the tipster writes.Agence France Presse reports: "The startup of Al Jazeera International, which had been expected sometime in the northern spring, 'has been delayed, probably to the summer ... for technical reasons,' Al Jazeera Satellite Network director general Wadah Khanfar said." > Update: 12:07pm: "Another delay for Al Jazeera? Wasn't it first supposed to launch in January 2005?," an e-mailer asks. "Perhaps their much vaunted U.S. distribution has not materialized. There are a lot of expensive hires sitting around gathering dust!" Email This Post |
