CBS Journalists Expected to be Released Soon

AFP reports the two CBS News employees who went missing Sunday in Basra, Iraq, are expected to be released “within hours.”

The office of cleric Moqtada al-Sadr‘s movement in Basra tells AFP, “We have already completed negotiations with the kidnappers of the British journalist and he will be released and handed over to us within hours.”

The journalist and his Iraqi translator were reportedly taken at gunpoint by masked men from their hotel on Sunday. CBS News has been in contact with their families, but has asked that their identities not be revealed.
