CBS’ McManus Congratulates Staff on Emmy Noms
CBS News and Sports President Sean McManus sent a note to staffers yesterday congratulating them on the 31 News & Doc Emmy nominations the network received, the second-most of any network behind PBS:
From: McManus, Sean
Cc: Moonves, Leslie
Subject: Message from Sean McManusWe learned today that CBS News has been nominated for a truly extraordinary 31 Emmy Awards. Without in any way diminishing the excellence and accomplishments of our competitors, I can’t help but tell you that we were nominated for more than ABC News and NBC News combined.
Congratulations to 60 Minutes (16 nominations), Evening News (8), 48 Hours Mystery (3), Sunday Morning (3) and Weekend News (1). And, in addition to our outstanding journalists, I want to note that the excellent CBS News Marketing group was responsible for one of the nominations this year. There are a great many individuals to acknowledge more formally, but in the meantime, I just want to tell you all how very proud I am of the entire CBS News Division and our continued industry-leading excellence.
Congratulations to everyone!
As McManus points out, CBS’ 31 nominations far-outpaces the broadcast competition (NBC had 17, ABC had 9), an achievement that was certainly overshadowed yesterday by the surprising news that David Letterman extortionist Joe Halderman was listed among the nominees.
