CNN Defends Reporting On ‘Dobbs Tonight’

Lou Dobbs Tonight is standing by Christine Romans‘ reporting in the wake of yesterday’s 60 Minutes report questioning the accuracy of a segment about immigrant health concerns.
On April 14, 2005, Roman cited a widely respected medical lawyer and medical historian as the source for her report.

In a statement provided to TVNewser, Dobbs said: “Christine Romans’ comments reflected what Dr. Cosman had said: That the number of active and current cases of leprosy had risen to and remained at more than 7,000 for the past three years as a result of improved reporting and unscreened illegal immigration primarily from Southeast Asia.”

Cosman mentioned the rise in leprosy cases in this journal article.
