Covering D-Day +65

FNCD_6.6.jpgOf the three cable news channels, Fox News covered most extensively this morning's remembrances of the 65th anniversary of D-Day, anchored by Chris Wallace. FNC aired, uninterrupted, the speeches from the heads of state of France, Canada, Great Britain and the U.S. FNC was also the only network to broadcast the ceremonies in HD. Fox News pushed its "Cost of Freedom" business block to 11amET in order to carry the D-Day events live.

MSNBCD_6.6.jpgMSNBC carried the speeches but with commercials. Among their on-set guests: Winston S. Churchill, grandson of Winston Churchill and historian Douglas Brinkley.

CNN stayed with the taped program "Your Bottom Line", telling viewers it would carry Pres. Obama's speech at 10amET. As it turns out, Obama began early at 9:54am and CNN missed the beginning of his speech. Their coverage continued into the 10am hour after the speeches and presentation of the Legion of Honor medals.
