GLAAD Issues Call to Action for an O’Reilly Apology

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation has launched a campaign “demanding apologies from Bill O’Reilly and FOX News executives.” The group published the names, email addresses, and phone numbers of contacts at FNC and urges individuals to voice concerns regarding a discussion that took place on the air this week.

Referring to a remark made during a segment from “The O’Reilly Factor,” GLAAD says the host “made highly offensive comments while discussing a gay themed McDonald’s advertisement currently airing in France.”

Watch the segment here and judge for yourself:

Yesterday, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz criticized O’Reilly and said that the host showed “his homophobic stripes” in the clip.

But is this comment just getting blown out of proportion? “Factor” Senior EP David Tabacoff tells the NY Daily News:

“This is a very silly controversy. The quote was taken totally out of context. If you look at the full segment and think he’s actually equating gays with Al Qaeda, you must be crazy. By seizing on a handful of words, they have made a really ridiculous argument.”
