Harry Smith’s Very Busy Wednesday
Outgoing “Early Show” anchor Harry Smith had a very busy day yesterday. At 7 AM, Smith was in his usual seat behind the desk at “The Early Show,” joined by guest co-anchor Rebecca Jarvis.
Nearly 12 hours later, at 6:30 PM, he was in the chair normally filled by Katie Couric at the “CBS Evening News.”

The top story on both newscasts was the aftermath of the blizzard that struck the Northeastern U.S.
Smith had the good sense to change ties in between the newscasts.
When he formally leaves “The Early Show” at the end of the year, Smith will become Couric’s primary fill-in on the “Evening News.”
