Jake Tapper’s Latest Experiment: Fact Checking ‘This Week’

this-week_4-8.jpgABC’s Jake Tapper has invited Politifact’s Bill Adair to fact check the interviews on Sunday’s “This Week” for a post on ABCNews.com later in the day. It’s the latest experiment for Tapper who announced when he became the interim host of the program that he was seeking suggestions from viewers to “try to make it rock and roll.”

As Tapper points out, the idea originally comes from NYU journalism professor Jay Rosen who, in December, wrote an article called “My Simple Fix for the Messed Up Sunday Shows.” In it he describes how he, interestingly, made this pitch to the EP of a different show:

I think the situation calls for cynicism. But I have to admit that is not much of a call. So instead I propose this modest little fix, first floated on Twitter in a post I sent out to Betsy Fischer, Executive Producer of Meet the Press, who never replies to anything I say. “Sadly, you’re a one-way medium,” I said to Fischer, “but here’s an idea for ya: Fact check what your guests say on Sunday and run it online Wednesday.”
