Katie Couric Gets John McCain For Evening News
He may have canceled an appearance on one CBS show, but Sen. John McCain will appear for an exclusive interview on another.
Katie Couric gets the only evening news interview with Sen. John McCain since his decision to temporarily suspend his campaign and his call to delay Friday’s debate.
Couric also spoke with McCain running mate Gov. Sarah Palin earlier today. Some of that interview will be aired tonight as well as tomorrow night due to “the time constraints of the broadcast.” Tonight’s portion of the Palin interview will focus on the economic crisis; tomorrow’s will cover international affairs.
> Update: Drudge is reporting David Letterman “cut over to the live video of the interview, and said, ‘Hey Senator, can I give you a ride home?’” during his taping. Letterman says he was told McCain canceled because he had to go back to Washington, D.C., but his interview with Couric was happening as Letterman was being taped up the street.
