Katie’s Goodbye: Excessive & Embarrassing

Can we all agree that Katie Couric‘s farewell was excessive? By 9am, she admitted, “it’s a lot of Katie,” and said “I’m starting to feel embarrassed.” And she still had an hour to go.

BCBeat’s John Eggerton says the “orgy of tribute was ridiculously over the top.” He writes: “Couric’s farewell was excessive — even understanding the commercial reasons it was done. There is a war going on (Ann Curry gave it 30 seconds or so every half hour.) A nice half hour at 8:30, and more at 9:45 in that bastard hour on Today would have given ample opportunity to venerate her.”
