Klein Says Brown “Had A Great Run”

CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein didn’t return my phone call today. But he had time to tell many TV writers that Aaron Brown‘s exit was a “mutual decision:”

> To the LA Times: “There weren’t that many options left that made sense for someone of Aaron’s stature.”

> To the AP: “Klein said he had no interest in keeping them together as a team, saying ‘you just want to make sure that you’re putting (Cooper) in the best possible situation and showcasing his talent.’”

> To the NY Times: “There are only so many hours in the course of a day.” The new lineup left “no options” for a program that would include Brown. “It is, unfortunately, a zero-sum game.”

> To The Hollywood Reporter: “When you look at that landscape, there was little opportunity for Aaron.”

> To the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “He had a great run.”
