The local TV stations that carry Katie Couric‘s Disney-ABC talk show “Katie” are hopeful that season two of the program will deliver stronger ratings.
B&C’s Michael Malone talks to a few of the local affiliates, some of whom are pleased with the show, although most are disappointed
“The results have not been as strong as we would’ve liked,” says Emily Barr, former WLS Chicago general manager who now heads up the Post-Newsweek group. “We hope there’s some changing and tweaking to improve the connection with the audience…
“To be fair, Katie is the highest rated new talk show,” says Bill Carroll, VP and director of programming at Katz Television Group. “Are ratings meeting expectations? Probably not.”
Of course, new “Katie” EP Rachel Miskowiec has plans to change things up in season two. She talks to B&C’s Paige Albiniak about what she has in store (subscription required):
I have a very clear vision for her and I’m hoping that we can grow together. I feel that America is still getting to know her. I feel like there are aspects and sides to her that we haven’t shown the world yet. And she’s so fun out in the world. I’m hoping to get her out of the studio more this year.
Miskowiec also wants to try and secure more big “get” interviews with newsmakers.
