March Ratings: Who’s Watching What, Later

We have the details of the most time-shifted cable programs for March 2008. This Nielsen data ranks the biggest shifts between the Live viewing of a program and the recording of that program over a seven day span (Live+7).

MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann was the top time-shifted program, adding 13.5% to his Total Viewer take (80,000 viewers.) By comparison the #1 8pmET show (and on all of cable news) in Total Viewers, FNC’s The O’Reilly Factor, adds an average of 60,000 time-shifted viewers.

In second place overall was the Saturday edition of CNN’s Ballot Bowl with 13.4%, and third was CNN’s Open House (12.1%). Three of the next four programs are part of FNC’s weekend morning business block: Cavuto on Business, Bulls & Bears and Forbes on Fox finished 4, 5 and 7. In sixth place was FNC’s special on William F. Buckley from March 1.

Looking at just the regular weekday cable shows, Countdown was followed by two new additions to the MSNBC line-up — Race to the White House and Verdict with Dan Abrams (which were most likely helped by first day interest). FNC’s late night program Red Eye was tied for third with Verdict.
