Middle East Crisis: Green Room Diplomacy

On Tuesday’s Tonight Snow, Chris Matthews joined Jay Leno to talk politics and the Middle East. Before predicting that Rudy Giuliani would be the next president of the United States, Matthews shared a story about playing Hardball with ambassadors from Israel and Syria.

“They both agreed they didn’t want to be seen together,” Matthews explained. Of course they wouldn’t appear on TV together — but they didn’t even want to “bump into each other in the hallways.” “So we [hid] the Israeli ambassador in a room” while the Syrian ambassador exited the studio, he said.

Leno reacted: “That’s like me and Letterman!”
