The NBC News press release is after the jump...

NBC NEWS/MSNBC ANNOUNCES KATRINA SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY COVERAGE PLANS

BRIAN WILLIAMS TO LEAD COVERAGE AND WILL ANCHOR "NIGHTLY NEWS" FROM NEW ORLEANS AND MISSISSIPPI

MSNBC AND msnbc.com TO PROVIDE COVERAGE OF NEWS AND EVENTS; AND CNBC WILL BROADCAST AN ORIGINAL ONE HOUR DOCUMENTARY

Marking the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, NBC News' award winning reporting of the storm and its aftermath will continue with live coverage from the region on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29.

Brian Williams will return to the Gulf Coast region for the 14th time and will anchor "NBC Nightly News" live on Tuesday, August 28 from Waveland, Mississippi and on Wednesday, August 29 from New Orleans. Coverage will also include reporting from NBC News' New Orleans Bureau correspondent Martin Savidge. Among other stories, the broadcast will revisit familiar faces and report on those who have rebuilt, those still struggling to, and those who continue to make a difference.

On Wednesday, August 29, Brian Williams will also report for "Today," live from New Orleans, with Tiki Barber live from the Mississippi Gulf.

MSNBC will mark the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina with live coverage from the Gulf Coast region through out the day.

CNBC will present "Against the Tide: The Battle for New Orleans," an original CNBC one-hour documentary analyzing how the New Orleans business community has recovered from the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina two years later. The documentary premieres on Sunday, August 26 at 10:00 pm, ET and 1:00 am, ET and re-airs on Katrina's two-year anniversary on Wednesday, August 29 at 9:00 pm, ET and 12 Midnight, ET. In addition, CNBC Senior correspondent Scott Cohn will report live from New Orleans beginning on Monday, August 27 through Wednesday, August 29.

On the Internet, msnbc.com will kick off three days of Hurricane Katrina coverage with a special "Rising from Ruin" series that features original stories, in-depth analysis and compelling multimedia presentations beginning on August 27. Two communities msnbc.com has been following since the storm -- Bay St. Louis and Waveland, Miss. – will be featured on the first day in an extensive piece looking at how much has been accomplished and how much remains to be done. A compelling multimedia package shows images of the neighborhoods less than a week before the hurricane hit, after the storm, and how those communities look two years later. The coverage also includes a special report from a local "citizen diarist."

On day two, msnbc.com will share the personal stories of volunteers who rushed to the Gulf Coast to help after Hurricane Katrina and never left the area. On August 29, the second anniversary of Katrina, msnbc.com will look at those who have truly been left behind as the recovery from the storm continues. The coverage will also include "Rebuilding Lives," a special report on the stories of four people msnbc.com has been following since Hurricane Katrina and how they and their communities are faring.
