‘Nightline’ to Debut First Primetime Series

For the very first time, ABC News’ “Nightline” will be presenting a series airing in primetime television. The late-night news program will launch “Nightline Prime” on August 19th (at 10pm) for a four episode run.

Another ABC News series, “Boston Med,” will wrap up its own primetime run in that timeslot the week prior.

The four-part series is titled “Secrets of Your Mind: Why We do What We Do” — not to be confused with “What Would You Do” — and focuses on a “range of extraordinary case studies” focusing on the human brain.

Two of the installments — the second and fourth — will be reported by former anchor Martin Bashir, who, by that time, will be just about starting his new gig with NBC News.

More: Interesting aside: when the “Nightline”-branded series was initially announced, it was just called “ABC News’ Head Cases,” though a spokesperson tells us that was just a working title and that the series was always going to be produced by the “Nightline” team and EP James Goldston.
