‘Obama Claims Credit for That Failed Suicide Bomb Attempt’

nightlykabul_1-24.jpgLast night on “Nightly News,” NBC pentagon correspondent Jim Miklaszewski became the latest to flub the “Obama” and “Osama” names, leading to this little slip-up:

It’s certainly one of the shortest messages that Osama bin Laden’s ever delivered, but he gets right to the point. In a one-minute audiotape released today, Obama claims credit for that failed suicide bomb attempt over Detroit on Christmas day but in it he also, more ominously, threatens more such attacks.

It was the middle of the night — 4amET in Kabul — when Miklaszewski’s segment on “Nightly” was airing on the east coast of the US, which might help explain the mistake. Still, it was corrected for the west coast and for the NBC site.
