On The Air With One Former and Two Current Candidates
This Saturday CNN and Fox News Channel will air the Saddleback Presidential Forum hosted by Pastor Rick Warren. The two hour forum (8-10pmET) will be attended by Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama. The candidates will speak separately with the best-selling author and pastor on issues including compassion, faith, values and leadership.
Meanwhile, former GOP candidate for president Mike Huckabee is getting closer to his own show on Fox News Channel. The New York Post reports Huckbee taped a pilot “for a weekend cable TV show” set to debut this fall. “I can say it’s gonna be unlike anything else that’s on Fox and maybe on cable,” Huckabee unconvincingly told the Post.
When asked if he’d accept a cabinet position if John McCain wins the election, Huckabee responded, “Why would I want to do that? Why would I go back to telling everybody in the world how much money I make and…barely surviving to have some obscure cabinet post and have some 20-year-old from the White House telling me what I’m gonna do?”
Which is why we ask ourselves everyday: How has Elaine Chao hung on this long?
> Update: A Fox News spokesperson tells Politico’s Michael Calderone, “contrary to what was reported in today’s NY Post — Mike Huckabee has not shot a pilot for Fox News Channel. We are in discussion about developing a show with him in the future, but remain in the early planning stages.”
