Ratings: CNN Wins Primetime, Total Day Demo

CNN Ferguson coverageCNN won in the A25-54 demographic Monday in both total day and primetime, delivering 356,000 and 423,000 viewers, respectively. Fox News, second in both measurements, had 302,000 total day viewers and 405,000 primetime viewers in the demo. MSNBC was third and HLN was fourth.

Fox News led the way in total viewers, with 1,452,000 total day viewers and 2,136,000 primetime viewers. CNN was second, with 946,000 total day viewers and 1,027,000 primetime viewers. As with the demo viewers, MSNBC was third and HLN was fourth.

For the primetime hours, the top-rated show in total viewers was “The Kelly File” with 2,378,000 viewers, and the top-rated show in the demo was the 10pmET hour of “CNN Tonight” with 522,000 viewers.

Fox News won the demo in both the 8pmET (with Eric Bolling in for Bill O’Reilly) and 9pmET hours, while CNN won every hour in the demo from 10pm-12amET. Shepard Smith anchored from the Fox News Deck on FNC and Jake Tapper and Don Lemon anchored from Ferguson on CNN.

A few programming notes for tonight’s primetime lineup: as we told you earlier, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes and CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon will anchor their respective shows from Ferguson. On Fox News, Smith will anchor the 11pmET hour and Megyn Kelly will anchor the 12amET hour.
