Running Alongside the New York Marathon Reporter…

We’ll cop (or I will, at least) to being a bit obsessed with The New York TimesMarathon blog.

But Dave Ungrady publishes a post that’s relevant here for more reasons than simply a fascination with the blog.

In it, he talks to David Willey – yes, the editor-in-chief of Runner’s World – who doubles as a sideline reporter during the marathon. Although the two-time finisher missed covering last year’s race due to a bout of swine flu, he’ll be back in 2010 talking to runners as they battle the course and the elements.

Willey doesn’t run the entire race – he uses a motorcycle and a police escort to help find his targets – but he will run between four and eight miles during the event.

In 2007, Willey interviewed Lance Armstrong while running a 6:30 pace. Let’s see Erin Andrews do that.
