Sawyer Interviews Candidates’ Wives For Upcoming Specials
Diane Sawyer will anchor two hour-long ABC News specials about the presidential candidates and their families, airing September 26 at 8pm and October 3 at 10pm.
“It’s about the candidates and their families, but really about these iconic stories,” the Good Morning America anchor tells TVNewser.
For the specials, Sawyer has interviewed both Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama already. “I had a chance to speak with the wives of the candidates and they tell us about their husbands as they see them,” she says. “As candidates, as fathers, as husbands.”
The details of how the two specials will be broken up is not yet determined, and Sawyer tells us there may be updated interviews to come. The September 26 special will be the lead-in to the first presidential debate.
“It’s about the turning points in their lives, the transforming moments of their lives,” she says.
