EA Sports Planning Studio in Austin, TX

EA Sports, which currently has studios in Burnaby, British Columbia, and Maitland, Florida, is reportedly scouting locations in Austin, Texas, for a third North American studio.

“We have aggressive plans for expansion, and I will be visiting Austin, Texas, this week to assess potential space for a new EA Sports studio location,” COO Daryl Holt said in an internal memo obtained by IGN Entertainment Games. “Our goal is to attract, hire and retain the industry’s best talent.”

Does “talent” refer to people who are awesome at NHL ’94? If so, I’m updating my resume posthaste.

UNC Names Angell as Heir to Durham

North Carolina has named Jones Angell as the new radio voice for Tar Heels’ football and basketball, succeeding the legendary Woody Durham who retired in April after 40 years at the mic for UNC.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to become the next play-by-play voice for Carolina athletics,” said Angell, who has been the school’s play-by-play baseball announcer for the last eight seasons. “The guys on the broadcast with me are so good at what they do. Having them there will make this transition much easier.”

Angell graduated from UNC in 2001. In addition to his baseball work, he has been a host and color analyst for the Tar Heel Sports Network the last six years.

He said replacing Durham is not his goal. Read more
