Isaac Lee Named CEO of Fusion

isaac leeIsaac Lee has been named CEO of Fusion, the joint ABC News and Univision network set to launch later this month. In his new role, Lee will continue as president of Univision News, a position he has held since 2010.

“Isaac has been a tremendous partner in this endeavor since its inception,” ABC News president Ben Sherwood said in a statement. “His deep understanding of content that is relevant to Latinos and millennials will be critical as we bring together diverse cultures, voices and viewpoints to serve this influential and growing audience in the months and years ahead.”

Beau Ferrari, the executive vice president of operations for Univision, has been serving as Fusion’s interim president. The network is set to launch on October 28, with the digital platform going live on October 21.

“I am honored to take on this increased role with the incredibly creative and ambitious team at Fusion,” said Isaac Lee. “I want to congratulate Beau Ferrari who has done an excellent job putting in place the building blocks for this network’s long term success. I look forward to continuing to work with him and our great partners at ABC and Univision to grow this into one of the most impactful media organizations.”

Dan Lieberman Joins Fusion

Dan Lieberman is joining Fusion, the upcoming 24-hour news and lifestyle channel, as a dayside anchor and producer. Lieberman joins from sister network ABC News where he was a part of the investigative unit and “Nightline.” “We are delighted to welcome another exciting voice to our on-air lineup,” writes Fusion exec Beau Ferrari. “Dan is a bulldog investigative reporter, and his experience will be invaluable to our news team.”

Fusion, a joint venture of Univision and ABC, launches October 28 in about 20 million homes.

Fusion Hires Former ‘Daily Show’ EP To Develop News/Satire Programming

Fusion, the upcoming cable news channel from Univision and ABC News, has made a big hire: it is adding former “Daily Show” head writer and EP David Javerbaum to its executive ranks. Javerbaum will serve as an EP for Fusion, leading its west coast programming, and developing new news/satire shows.

“He will lead development of an instrumental part of our primetime programming – the next generation of news satire and comedy,” Fusion interim president Beau Ferrari wrote in an email to staff. “He’ll be based in Los Angeles and oversee content for all our West Coast programs, including the nightly show anchored by Leon Krauze and new programming concepts he’ll help develop.”

Javerbaum is also an author and playwight, and has written for aweards shows like the TONYs and Emmys.

“I feel incredibly lucky to be getting in on the ground floor at Fusion,” Javerbaum said in a statement. “I’ve never felt prouder to be a fifth-generation Hispanic-American.”

Fusion Names Mark Lima VP of News

Fusion, the upcoming cable news channel from ABC News and Univision, has named Mark Lima VP of news. Lima joins Fusion from ABC, where he is a senior producer at “Nightline.”

Lima is a 25-year veteran of ABC News, and has held a number of roles in the company, including director of sports and special projects for NewsOne and deputy bureau chief in Los Angeles. He has covered everything from the Olympic games to JFK Jr.’s plane crash.

“Mark has a keen eye for stories that matter, knows how to create compelling television, and is a tested expert in breaking news situations,” Fusion interim president Beau Ferrari in an email to staff today. “He is an experienced network producer who has led large teams to award-winning success, and we’re very fortunate he’s joining Fusion.”
