Ratings: Manning Bowl 2 Bests the Original

Report: No Charges Filed Against Mariotti

It appears Jay Mariotti has dodged a major bullet.

According to the Beverly Hills Courier, The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office won’t pursue a legal case against the 51-year-old sports personality for an alleged incident that occurred last month in Venice, Calif.

According to Shiara Davila-Morales of the District Attorney’s Office, the case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

Mariotti was arrested on Aug. 21 on suspicion of felony domestic assault after he was allegedly involved in an argument with his girlfriend.

Since the arrest, Mariotti has been suspended by Aol Fanhouse and hasn’t appeared on ESPN’s Around The Horn.

Since no charges were filed, does this mean we will see the polarizing Mariotti back at Aol and on ESPN in the near future?

Sporting News Launches iPad App

On the heels of a host of other publications comes the news that Sporting News will debut its very own Zino-fueled iPad application.

The words of Jeff Price, president and publisher of Sporting News, please.

“As other sports brands go the route of simply taking their existing magazines and digitizing them for the iPad, we recognized an opportunity to deliver an interactive, comprehensive daily sports news product in Sporting News Today. In addition, the advertising environment on the App for iPad allows us to be creative and interactive against our advertiser’s objectives – as opposed to simply digitizing print creative, we can take a combination of print, online and video creative and integrate it into the Sporting News Today experience.”

The app is free, but a subscription to Sporting News Today costs $2.99 per month. The Sporting News already has iPhone applications for the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, and college football.
