Jeff Goldblatt Exits Chicago’s Fox Station

Goldblatt J.jpgFormer Fox News Channel correspondent Jeff Goldblatt — who’s been the 9pm main anchor at Chicago’s Fox O&O WFLD-TV since August of 2008 — is leaving the station, reports vocalo.org’s Robert Feder.

According to Feder, Goldblatt told colleagues his contract would not be renewed later this year. Goldblatt joined WFLD in “a wave of Fox News Channel anchors and reporters drafted for key news positions at Fox-owned stations under big boss Roger Ailes. Among others were Dari Alexander, Rick Folbaum, Greg Kelly, Heather Nauert and Mike Jerrick.”

It’s not known what’s next for Goldblatt. As far as his replacement, Feder cites speculation focused on former CBS News correspondent and Chicago news veteran Bob Sirott.

Breasts & Bombs (the F kind) Drop on TV

CNBC_9.17.pngAt the end of CNBC’s Power Lunch today, Sue Herera was reading a story about Chinese chickens vs. American chickens (don’t ask, apparently that’s an important business story). Anyway, Herera says, “American chicken feet tend to be larger and plumper than other chicken feet around the world, because Americans like more white meat chicken, so the feet are bred to be bigger and it costs more to buy them.”

So Michelle Caruso Cabrera chimes in: “Because American chickens have bigger breasts, so they must have bigger feet to hold them up.” Bill Griffith jumps in, “Well it’s time to go. Look at the clock.”

We don’t have that video. But we do have the clip of a slip from New York’s FOX 5 anchor Ernie Anastos also, oddly, involving chickens. He apparently meant to say, “Keep plucking that chicken.” But, he didn’t.

See it after the jump, and pay close attention to the look on the face of his co-anchor, former Fox News anchor, Dari Alexander

Time Warner Center Hosts Annual NLGJA Benefit

More than 300 TVNewsers packed Time Warner Center’s 10th floor event space last night for the 14th annual NLGJA Headlines and Headliners benefit and silent auction. CNN’s Soledad O’Brien emceed the event which raised more than $130,000 for NLGJA’s annual programs and scholarships.

In attendance: Geraldo Rivera, Juliet Huddy, Mike Jerrick, Natalie Morales, Meredith Vieira and her former “The View” co-host Joy Behar; Jeanne Moos, Jane Velez Mitchell, Jenna Wolf, and Alison Stewart; NBC News president Steve Capus, FNC VP John Moody and many more (we had to duck out half way through the event so probably missed some late-comers.) Here are some of the faces in the crowd:

Several local newscasters, who headed back to their stations to anchor the 10 or 11 O’Clock shows, were in attendance, including Ernie Anastos and Dari Alexander of WNYW, Sade Baderinwa and Bill Ritter of WABC, and Chris Wragge of WCBS, doing double duty this week for the local station and the network.

At this hour, five noteworthy auction items remain on eBay.

FOX O&O’s Bracing For Cuts

fox5_12-11.jpgWhile cuts have been seen at many major media companies over the last few weeks, News Corp. has stayed largely in the clear. That appears likely to change.

According to a local spy, News Corp. is preparing for a round of cutbacks after the new year, mandating major O&O’s to make “across the board” cuts. Stations like New York’s WNYW, Chicago’s WFLD and Houston’s KRIV are expected to be hit hard.

Our source tells TVNewser some talent contracts are not being renewed, and that any talent who want to renew their deals will be asked to take a pay cut. As for existing talent “balking at signing a pay cut,” our source says, “There’s plenty of good talent on the street looking for work.”

Some former Fox Newsers now at O&O’s include Greg Kelly, Dari Alexander and Rick Folbaum at WNYW and Jeff Goldblatt at WFLD.
