“New Face of News ” Fired From ABC

watts_4-9.jpgPage Six reports a Chicago-based Good Morning America producer has been let go after medical expenses for a nose job were found on his corporate credit card.

The producer, Steph Watts, previously worked for FNC’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” and Court TV.

On his personal Website, Watts describes himself as “the new face of news coverage.”

Here’s an audio conversation between Watts and Van Susteren about the Drew Peterson case in 2007.

> Update: Watts responds to TVNewser.

With Wedding Back On, Today Talks to Peterson

peterson_2-13.bmpFor a few days after Martin Bashir‘s Nightline interview with Drew Peterson, it looked like the accused double-murderer wouldn’t be marrying his fifth wife.

But all that changed — the wedding is back on, and NBC’s Amy Robach exclusively interviewed the once-again happy couple for the Today show.

Peterson acknowledged his fiancee’s father thinks he’s “the devil,” but said, laughing, “Well, it looks like the devil won this round.”

Peterson Does Nightline, Fiancee Moves Out

peterson_1-30.bmpDrew Peterson appeared last night on ABC’s Nightline, in an interview with Martin Bashir. It was his first television interview since he became engaged to his fifth wife.

Well, according to Peterson, “his fiancee dumped him as they watched his interview Thursday on ‘Nightline.’” She decided to move out immediately — with the help of “five squad cars.”

“The engagement is over because of your interviews,” Peterson told Bashir today.

It’s been quite a week for Peterson’s publicist, Glenn Selig, whose other major client got impeached yesterday after a major media tour.

The Ticker: ABC, FNC, NBC…

> Drew Peterson is getting married again (because “I like being married”), and Nightline’s Martin Bashir has the first interview with him since his engagement. It airs tonight at 11:35pm.

> ThinkProgress, which was named “Best Liberal Blog” in 2006, reports “Fox News came the closest to offering balance” when it came to economic recovery plan guests this week.

> A few tipsters noted the error last night in the Nightly News segment about author James Brady (a picture of the former press secretary was used). Minutes later, Brian Williams said: “Quick note here. As you might have noted last segment we briefly showed the wrong photo when we were reporting on the death of columnist James Brady. We apologize.”

Geraldo “Sabotaged” By Blago “PR Guy”

geraldo_1-26.jpgAs if today’s Rod Blagojevich press blitz isn’t bizarre enough, a new wrinkle came from Geraldo Rivera‘s interview, which was supposed to take place at 2pmET on FNC’s The Live Desk.

Instead, Geraldo was “sabotaged.” You see, Blago’s publicist is Glenn Selig, who also happens to be the publicist for Drew Peterson. Seriously. And, as Geraldo put it, “Drew Peterson is my arch-enemy.”

So, Rivera tracked down Blago in the parking lot of “The View” this morning after a last minute cancellation by Selig. He banged on the window until Blagojevich emerged, and Rivera asked, “What happened to our 2:00 interview?” Blagojevich responded: “I don’t know I just go where they tell me.”

Then the interview took place outside while other reporters tried to get in questions as well. As a bonus, Rivera interviewed Whoopi Goldberg.

There’s a lot more to it, including the use of the term “double-murdering.” Just click continued and watch the whole segment…
