NBC News Announces DC Producer Moves

nbcnews304NBC News has made several behind-the-scenes personnel moves in its DC bureau.

Kristen Donnelly has been promoted to the NBC News’ White House team, moving over from her role as senior producer on  MSNBC’s 11amET hour. Frank Thorp V will take over as Senate producer. Thorp has produced for Luke Russert and Kelly O’Donnell in recent years.

Alex Moe has been promoted to NBC News’ House of Representatives producer. Moe started out as the network’s Tim Russert fellow in 2010, moving on to being a campaign embed for Newt Gingrich‘s 2012 presidential campaign and producer in the North East bureau. And Abigail Williams will become State Department producer, working with Andrea Mitchell. She had been a general assignment producer.

The network also formerly announced Kasie Hunt‘s move to MSNBC, where she will be the network’s political correspondent. Hunt had been NBC News’ Senate producer.

The Afternoon Ticker: Hunt, Hamby, Lauer…

  • Kasie Hunt has been named an MSNBC political correspondent. It’s a new position for MSNBC as the network moves to having reporters exclusive of NBC News. Hunt joined MSNBC in January, 2013, and has fronted the “States of Play” series on Morning Joe.

  • CNN’s Peter Hamby is taking viewers into the world of political campaigns through his own personal lens. The weekly CNN.com series Hambycast will provide a candid and casual look at American political campaigns, beyond the stump speeches.

  • NBC News is turning Matt Lauer‘s exclusive interview with Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly into a “Dateline” special Friday night at 10pmET. Lauer also sits down with the doctors who treated Brantly at Emory University Hospital and Brantly’s wife, Amber.

The Morning Ticker: Hunt Hired, BBC Added, Fox Mistaken

  • Kasie Hunt joins the NBC News DC bureau as an off-air reporter/producer. Hunt comes to NBC from the AP, where she was a national political reporter. Hunt has appeared regularly on MSNBC shows including “The Daily Rundown,” and “Hardball.”

  • BBC World News Channel is now on 10 million more U.S. homes. Time Warner Cable completed its rollout of the channel bringing total U.S. subscribers to 25 million and about 200 million worldwide.

  • California’s governor’s office sought — and this morning got — a correction from FoxNews.com after a report last week that the state’s budget deficit was projected to hit $28 billion. After press secretary Gil Duran went to Jim Romenesko with the error, FoxNews.com corrected it.
