Kate Bolduan Named CNN Morning Show Co-Anchor, Net Hires Michaela Pereira from KTLA

First on TVNewser: CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker just announced to the staff that he is bringing on CNN Congressional correspondent Kate Bolduan (upper left) as Chris Cuomo‘s co-anchor for CNN’s new morning show.

As TVNewser sources indicated yesterday, Bolduan was the top pick following Zucker’s first choice of Erin Burnett with whom negotiations didn’t get very far. Burnett continues to anchor her 7pm show “OutFront.” CNN has also hired longtime KTLA morning anchor Michaela Pereira (upper right) as news anchor. Interestingly, Pereira’s show on KTLA, the CW affiliate in Los Angeles, was created by Burnett’s producer Wil Surratt.

“There will be much more news about this exciting new show in the weeks to come, but today’s announcement gives us a very strong start,” writes Zucker in a note to staff, obtained by TVNewser. “Please join me in congratulating Chris and Kate, and welcoming Michaela to CNN.”

The as-yet unnamed show will debut later this Spring.

More: It was also announced that Matt Frucci, who joined CNN in October after 12 years at ABC News, will EP the new morning show. He’ll report to Jim Murphy, who will be senior EP. More in the release after the jump…
