The Benefits of That Single Live Hour

![]()
For the first time in the network’s history, Fox Business Network was live on a Saturday yesterday, as anchor Liz Claman hosted, “Weekend with Warren,” at 7pmET last night. And being live for that one hour proved to be tremendously lucky — at the end of the hour, Claman broke the news that the AP was reporting Microsoft was dropping its bid to acquire Yahoo.
At the time, only Fox News Channel was in live programming at 7pmET, and was the second network to report the news. While FBN spent their first (and, so far, only) live weekend hour from Omaha discussing Warren Buffett‘s Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting, the breaking news at the end of the hour became the real coup.
Insiders tell TVNewser Claman got word of the AP story in her IFB earpiece from her producer during the final commercial break, and they decided to close with the breaking news at that time.
Tomorrow morning, Claman will interview Warren Buffett at 9:30amET, and we hear another surprise guest, someone on the Berkshire Hathaway board of directors, will be interviewed as well during the hour.
