Tom Brokaw’s Final Meet the Press
During a segment on Weekend Today this morning, promoting his interview with Pres.-elect Barack Obama, Tom Brokaw confirmed this would be his final day moderating Meet the Press.
It’s been a great privilege to be here. I couldn’t have had a better assignment. I hated the circumstances obviously because it was the loss of my friend Tim [Russert] that compelled me to step into this chair.
But We’re going announce this morning at the end of the broadcast the successor here. It’s been getting some attention and “Meet the Press,” Tim often said it was a national treasure and we were only temporary custodians and my temporary role has ended and we’re now about to get a new moderator, Lester. And I think everyone will be applauding the choice.
