Tweaking The CBS Evening News

The CBS Evening News “is in transition,” Howard Kurtz explains in today’s WP. “Some of the changes” made last September — like freeSpeech — “have been dropped or curtailed to squeeze in more old-fashioned, what-happened-today stories.” (“Snapshot” is pretty much gone entirely.)

Sean McManus says “in the first couple of weeks, we might have focused more on features than hard news, and we’re adjusting that.” But at the same time, Rome Hartman says “the story line that got peddled — and believe me, it got peddled — that we were off the news, or softer than the other guys, is basically bogus.” Read it all…
