When Does The Opening Ceremony Start?
For the past couple days, MSNBC has been using a lower third that says, “Opening Ceremony Begins at 7:30pm ET/6:30pm CT Tomorrow” (seen here from this afternoon during a report from correspondent Jeff Ranieri — getting in the Olympic spirit with a USA swimming T-shirt, which Contessa Brewer just said makes him look “buff”). The problem is, the Opening Ceremony doesn’t begin at 7:30pmET — it starts at 8:08amET (or 8:08pm local time in Beijing). The NBC tape delay begins at 7:30pmET.![]()

> Update An emailer notes Amy Robach, filling in on Nightly News last night, also said, “NBC will broadcast the Opening Ceremony live on Friday night.”
