The dust-up over President Obama’s appearance on “Between Two Ferns” continued last night, with both of MSNBC’s Chris’ taking on Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly over his claim that President Abraham Lincoln wouldn’t have appeared on the comedy show.
Chris Matthews responded to O’Reilly on last night’s “Hardball” with a simple jab: “And Abe Lincoln would not have worked for Fox.”
Following Matthews, Chris Hayes dug a little deeper, taking on O’Reilly’s knowledge about the president that was the topic of one his best sellers, “Killing Lincoln.” Hayes aired media clips from various web sites and historians that depicted Lincoln as a lover of jokes and comedy.
“So maybe Abraham Lincoln would have done something like ‘Between two Ferns’…only it’s possible he would have come off a lot more like Zach Galifianakis than President Obama.”
