XM Satellite Radio Drops MSNBC

Effective Sept. 4, “MSNBC – XM 130 will no longer be available on XM,” the company’s lineup confirms.

Contacted by TVNewser on Monday, an MSNBC rep said the decision was made by the satellite radio company. An XM spokesperson said: “XM has 13 different news channels, and it regularly updates its schedule to make way for new channels.” When asked why MSNBC was being canned, the spokesperson declined to comment.

“This is kind of disappointing,” an e-mailer says. “It was nice to have CNN, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News and Headline News all available.” There’s a petition to “Save MSNBC on XM” at PetitionSpot.com (via Lost Remote). And TVNewser hears MSNBC may still have a future on the radio…
