Chris Wragge may not officially return to WCBS until September 6, but the former — and future — evening anchor was back on the air on the CBS O&O this weekend, reporting on Hurricane Irene from WCBS’s mobile unit across the tri-state area.

A WCBS spokesman confirmed to TVSpy that this weekend was Wragge’s first appearance on the station since the announcement he would return to the CBS O&O two weeks ago. Wragge did live shots approximately once an hour during the daytime coverage on both Saturday and Sunday. He is slated to take over as the station’s 6 p.m. weekday anchor, alongside Dana Tyler, next week.
