Former KEYC Anchor Annie Stensrud Speaks Out About DUI, Slurred Newscast: ‘I Needed Help’

Annie Stensrud, the former KEYC weekend anchor who was arrested for DUI weeks after slurring her words while anchoring a weekend newscast, is speaking out.

In an interview with KARE (watch above), Stensrud said she has not watched the entire video of the slurred newscast. Her performance that night not the result of drinking but because of a bad reaction to anti-anxiety medication she was taking, she said.

“Some days I was overly talkative, some days I was really quiet and in a fog,” she said. “And the fog got heavier the more that I took  it.”

Stensrud said she dealt with the video’s viral nature by drinking. She was arrested for DUI several weeks later.

“It grabbed a hold of me and I needed help,” she says. “I couldn’t have done it on my own.”

Stensrud parted ways with KEYC and is now living with family in the Plymouth area.
