July 16 Declared Al Sunshine Day in Miami

To celebrate Al Sunshine‘s retirement after 40 years on the air in Miami, July 16, 2013 was declared Al Sunshine Day (video above).

“After 40 years on the air in Miami-Dade County, it is only fitting that Al Sunshine be honored for changing lives, affecting our community, and highlighting our society through his informative news stories and exceptional journalistic prowess,” a proclamation from the Miami mayor’s office reads.

Sunshine signed off from CBS O&O WFOR earlier this month. He has also worked at WTVJ and in CNN’s Miami Bureau.
