Longtime KTRK Anchor Dave Ward: ‘They’ll Probably Carry Me Out of Here Feet First’
Longtime KTRK anchor Dave Ward, who was out for more than a month earlier this year after breaking his hip in a fall minutes before a newscast, has a bold prediction: “They’ll probably carry me out of here feet first.”
“KTRK-TV is like my home, I’ve been here so long,” Ward told TVNewsCheck recently. “I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t come into work every day. I still feel like I contribute to the newscast and they seem to want me here.”
Ward joined KTRK in 1966 and has been anchoring the station’s 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts since 1968.
After breaking his hip in January just before the ABC O&O’s 10 p.m. newscast on Friday, the 13th, Ward returned to work at the end of February.
Here’s his message for viewers about the accident…
