David George Let Go From WMTV: ‘TV News is a business like any other’

Chief meteorologist David George has been let go from WMTV, he announced yesterday via Twitter.

“I went to work this afternoon only to find out that I don’t have a job there anymore,” George wrote. “I want to thank everyone that I know for your support.”

George was hired at the Madison NBC-affiliate in 1997. His bio has already been stripped from the WMTV website.

“TV News is a business like any other,” George wrote in another tweet. “If numbers and/or money don’t make sense then a change must occur. It happens every single day.”

>Update: “It’s time to explore any and all options, but I will continue my leadership work with the Autism Society of South Central Wisconsin as long as I stay in this area,” George tells TVSpy.
