Veteran Louisville Meteorologist John Belski Joining WLKY

Three years after leaving Louisville NBC affiliate WAVE, John Belski is returning to television at rival WLKY.

Belski began his career at CBS affiliate WLKY in 1979. He left for WAVE in 1987 and worked there until he left to “explore some new possibilities outside of the TV business” in 2010.

“John brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, and is a great addition to our team. We are thrilled to have him join the WLKY family,” WLKY news director Andrea Stahlman said in a statement.

In his new role, effective immediately, Belski will appear on-air and online as a forecaster and severe weather specialist, joining meteorologists Jay Cardosi, Matt Milosevich, Susanne Horgan and Jared Heil. He will also contribute a daily blog to WLKY’s web and mobile platforms.

“It’s great to be back at WLKY, where I started in Louisville years ago,” Belski said. “I’m excited to join Jay, Matt, Susanne and Jared doing what I love most, covering the weather and keeping people informed.”

Mike Neelly Named News Director at WLWT, Andrea Stahlman to Replace Him at WLKY

There are leadership changes coming to Hearst stations in Cincinnati and Louisville. WLKY news director Mike Neelly will move to WLWT, and assistant news director Andrea Stahlman will replace him at WLKY.

Neelly joined WLKY in 1997 and was named news director three years later. During his time at the station, the CBS affiliate expanded its news operation and became the market’s ratings leader. At WLWT, Cincinnati’s NBC affiliate, he replaces Stacy Owen, who is joining KNBC in Los Angeles.

“WLWT News 5 is fortunate to welcome a news director with Mike’s extensive experience and outstanding track record of success,” general manager Richard Dyer said in a statement. “With his exceptional leadership skills and strong news instincts, Mike is perfectly suited to build on the foundation of ratings growth and momentum for WLWT News 5.”

Stahlman will step into the news director role at WLKY on November 12. She has spent 12 years as the station’s assistant news director. Read more
