KETV To Renovate Historic Building and Move Downtown

KETV has announced plans to buy the historic Burlington Station in downtown Omaha and turn it into the station’s new home by 2015.

“It’s the right thing to do,” said Ariel Roblin, president of the Omaha ABC affiliate. “It really goes back to the people who watch us every day, the people we serve every day, the people we think about every day. That’s the reason we get to do this, so you know we have to do it right.”

Originally built in 1898, Burlington closed the station and leased it to Amtrak in 1971. Amtrak abandoned the building in 1974 after railroad traffic declined. The station posted a photo gallery of the old railroad station to its website. Click here to view. Read more

Adrian Whitsett Returns to KETV Following DUI

KETV anchor Adrian Whitsett is back at work, after serving time for his third DUI.

KETV general manager Ariel Roblin confirmed today that Whitsett has returned to work, although she said that his return to the air has not yet been determined.

In an email, Whitsett told TVSpy that he hopes to be back on air “within a few weeks.”  Before going on unpaid leave following his arrest, Whitsett anchored KETV’s weekday 5 p.m. newscast.

Whitsett’s Twitter account went dark following his DUI arrest in January but he started tweeting again on Thursday.  “Good to be back at it!” reads one message.

Ariel Roblin Named President, GM of KETV in Omaha

Ariel Roblin was named president and general manager of KETV, the ABC-affiliate in Omaha, Hearst Television announced today.

Roblin joined KETV in May 2010 from KRCR-KAEF in Redding, CA. Her appointment, a promotion from general sales manager, is effective immediately.

“Her appreciation for localism and the importance of a quality news service, along with her solid business credentials, will make her an effective leader of KETV as it serves the Omaha community on-air, online and on-the-go,” Hearst president and CEO David Barrett said in a statement.

Roblin replaces Sarah Smith, who took over as president and general manager of KMBC-KCWE in Kansas City on September 6.
