Christopher Berg Joins Nexstar Broadcasting

nexstar logoChristopher Berg is joining Nexstar Broadcasting as the Director of Local Content Development — West. Berg will begin March 20 and report to Nexstar’s senior vice president for station operations Blake Russell.

Berg joins Nexstar from WFAA in Dallas, where he was the assistant news director. In his new role, he will work with Nexstar’s stations west of the Mississippi river to create local content for both on-air and digital platforms.

“His extensive broadcast industry knowledge and track record of showcasing innovative local content makes Chris the ideal candidate to support our company-wide initiative to expand our creation and development of original local content that can be shared on a regional or group-wide level,” Russell said in a statement.

With Berg’s hire, Jerry Walsh — who currently holds the role of director of local content development for all Nexstar’s stations — will shift his oversight to the Nexstar stations east of the Mississippi.

Dione Rigsby Joins Nexstar Broadcasting as VP of Technology

Dione Rigsby has joined Nexstar Broadcasting as vice president of technology, effective immediately. In his new role, Rigsby will oversee the ongoing integration of Inergize Digital, which Nexstar acquired from Newport Television last year.

Rigsby joins Nexstar from Newport Television, where he was responsible for corporate technology and technical resources related to television operations and the Ingerize Digital platform, among other things. He worked from 2008-12 as chief technology officer, vice president and director of engineering and general manager of Newport Technical Operations Center.

“Dione has an impressive industry background with extensive experience in managing technology operations, information systems and complex application development and deployment,” Nexstar SVP of station operations Blake Russell said in a statement. “Dione’s appointment will support our goals for both expanding our revenue channels and driving efficiencies throughout the organization.”

Nexstar Taps Former WROC News Director to Oversee Cross-Platform Content

Nexstar Broadcasting announced today that Jerry Walsh has been named director of local content development.

In his new role Walsh, who previously served as news director at Nextar’s WROC in Rochester, NY, will work with news directors and web producers at the company’s stations to create local, cross-platform content for TV, web, and mobile.

“Jerry’s ability to leverage the value of local content creation across multiple platforms in a manner that elevates its relevance to on-air, online and mobile audiences has proven to be of value to our viewers and advertisers alike,” said Blake Russell, Nexstar’s senior vice president of station operations, in announcing the move.
