Mark Clegg Leaving KSHB for Houston PR Job

Mark-CleggKansas City NBC affiliate KSHB has announced anchor Mark Clegg is leaving the station after 12 years.

Clegg is moving to Texas to work at Houston real estate company Hines as director of media relations and communications. His last day on air will be July 23.

“We are excited for Mark and his new adventure,” news director Carrie Hofmann said in a statement. “He has spent the past 12 years dedicated to this station and this community. He will be missed.”

Before coming to KSHB in 2002, Clegg worked at WTHR in Indianapolis, IN. He has also worked at KXAS and WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, KFDX in Wichita Falls, and KBTV in Beaumont, TX.

Lindsay Shively Named Weekend Anchor at KSHB in Kansas City

Lindsay Shively is the new weekend morning anchor at Kansas City NBC affiliate KSHB, Bottom Line Communications reports.

Shively joined KSHB as a multimedia journalist in 2009. She replaces Najahe Sherman, who joined WKRN in Nashville last month.

“I am excited to be able to promote Lindsay. She is a great storyteller and her bright and cheerful personality will be a nice addition to our weekend morning show,” news director Carrie Hofmann said in a statement.

Bottom Line also reports that anchor Cynthia Newsome will move from the weekend evening newscasts to the weekday midday newscasts. Amy Hawley will solo anchor the weekend evening newscasts going forward.

KSHB Adds Weekday Afternoon Newscast, Hires Meteorologist Kalee Dionne

Kansas City NBC affiliate KSHB will add a weekday 4 p.m. newscast next month, according to Bottom Line Communications.

The newscast, which debuts April 8, will be anchored by Mark Clegg and Christa Dubill, along with chief meteorologist Gary Lezak.

“I am excited to be adding more news at a time when many stations across the country are cutting back. It reinforces our commitment to keep our viewers up to date on what’s happening in their community on the screen of their choice,” KSHB news director Carrie Hofmann said in a statement.

KSHB has also hired meteorologist Kalee Dionne (pictured), who is currently the morning meteorologist at WIAT in Birmingham, Ala. She will start in late April, according to Bottom Line.

Carrie Hofman Named News Director at KSHB

Carrie Hofmann has been named news director at KSHB, the NBC affiliate in Kansas City.

Hofmann comes from WCNC in Charlotte, where she has been assistant news director for two years. Prior to that, she was assistant news director at KMGH in Denver.

“Carrie has the vision and leadership skills we believe will help 41 Action News move forward,” KSHB VP-GM Brian Bracco said in a statement.

Hofmann begins at KSHB March 6. She replaces Peggy Phillip, who left the station in August. [via Bottom Line Communications]

Doug Kufner to Join WCNC Sports Department

Doug Kufner, who has worked as a sports anchor at WTVW for the past six years, is leaving Evansville, IN to join WCNC in Charlotte.

Kufner has accepted a “jack of all trades” position with the NBC-affiliate’s sports department.  He’ll work as a producer, reporter, photographer, and anchor.

“I’m extremely grateful to WTVW for giving me the opportunity to live and work in Evansville over the last six years,” Kufner told TVSpy via email.  “My wife and I are thrilled to be moving to such a wonderful city in Charlotte.  I’m very excited to be joining the talented group of journalists at WCNC!” Read more
