Talk Show Host Doesn’t Want to Watch Anyone Kiss on TV, Especially A Gay NFL Draftee

The Broadcast on Dallas independent station KTXD is a local version of a four host news and entertainment talk show.

Lisa Pineiro started the show’s second hour by tossing to WFAA sports director Dale Hansen talking about gay NFL draftee Michael Sam.

The women of The Broadcast started talking about ESPN showing Sam kissing his boyfriend on live TV and what that means for America.

The discussion got pretty heated until Amy Kushnir walked off set. When Pineiro observed that the aggravated host was leaving, Kushnir said, “No. I”m going to go to Midland.” Which TVSpy guesses is code for a place where no one ever kisses on TV.

Dallas Sports Anchor Gives His Take on Openly Gay Football Player

Dale Hansen, sports anchor for Dallas ABC affiliate WFAA, told viewers what he thinks about the now openly gay Missouri football player Michael Sam.

Hansen spoke in support of Sam as part of his “Unplugged” commentary saying fans are OK with accused criminals playing in the NFL, but seem uncomfortable with an openly gay player. “I’m not always comfortable when a man tells me he’s gay,” said Hansen. “I don’t understand his world. But I do understand that he’s part of mine.”

The video is also posted to the WFAA facebook page. As of this writing it has 5,288 likes. One commenter wrote, “ I was thoroughly impressed with Dale’s comments on tonight’s broadcast. He was both honest & insightful. As an openly gay man, I really appreciate him sharing his perspective at such a poignant moment, in light of recent events. Bravo Mr Hansen!

Holland later sat down for an interview with Hansen.

WFAA Enlists Veteran Sports Anchor Dale Hansen to Promote Morning Show

WFAA, the ABC-affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth, has launched a new promotion for the morning show, pairing longtime sports anchor Dale Hansen with station newcomer — and morning anchor — Ron Corning.

“Kid, you’ve come to the right place,” Hansen, who has been with WFAA since 1983, tells Corning in the 30-second spot (watch above). “I’m a legend in town. I’m just saying: get your name out there. Your name is the key. Trust me on this one.” Read more
