KXII Hires Oklahoma City Reporter

Dan-Thomas-jpgDan Thomas is heading to Sherman, Tex. to anchor for CBS affiliate KXII.

Starting in November, Thomas will join Maureen Kane as co anchor of News 12 at Five, Six and Ten. He will also anchor the News 12 at Nine.

“We are extremely excited to get to showcase Dan’s talents on a nightly basis,” said Matt Griffin, KXII news director. “His experience both on the desk and reporting in the field will be an asset to everyone in our newsroom, as well as to our many viewers at home.”

Thomas comes from KOCO in Oklahoma City where he was an anchor and reporter. Before working at KOCO, he was an investigate reporter at WEAR in Pensacola, Fla.

Katy Blakey Promoted to Weekend Anchor at KOCO

Katy Blakey has been promoted to weekend morning anchor at KOCO, the ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City.

Blakey has been a general assignment reporter for the station since June 2011. She will join co-anchor Dan Thomas and meteorologist Danielle Dozier on the newscast beginning Saturday.

“Katy has proven herself a terrific journalist and a great servant for our community. We expect great things from her in this new role with Eyewitness News 5,” KOCO news director Stephanie Croswait said in a statement. Read more

Throwing to meteorologist Dan Thomas during WSMV‘s 4 p.m. newscast on Tuesday, anchor Jennifer Johnson made an unlikely “Seinfeld” reference.

Johnson and her co-anchor Demetria Kalodimos had been bantering about the shrinking contestants on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” when it came time to transition to weather (video above).
